Course Description
The A in MASTE(R) stands for art. Art and music are constantly intertwined from symphonies to tapestries. In this course, the focus will be on music theory. Understanding music theory will expand your knowledge and understanding of art.
Week 1
We are most looking forward to teaching people about the structure of the most common thing people encounter in their lives--music!
This first week will cover the basic notes from all of the clefs. We will then move into the scale degrees of notes in their key signatures.
Week 2
We will build off of the first week and use the scale degrees to identify key signatures and triads.
Week 3
This week will take a break from the theory aspect and move into breaking down rhythms and syncopations. This will cover note beaming, rhythm symbols, and the meaning behind the numbers in a time signature.
Week 4
For the final week, will finish with reviewing key signatures and triads. Then, we will move on to triad inversions and possibly seventh chords, time permitting.
Final Project - Compose Your Own Piece!
