Allison Mi

Founder

Allison Mi is a junior at State High. In her free time, she loves painting. As for extracurriculars, she is involved in NHS, Speech, and Mock Trial!

Fun Fact: Allison is an avid lover of Thai food, currently working as a waitress at Galanga by COZY THAI!

Mr. Chris Avvampato

Advisor

Mr. Avvampato is going into his 8th year of teaching (2021-2022) in Technology and Engineering Education. He's taught everything from Wood and Metal shop to Computer Graphics & Video Production. He's the advisor of TSA and coaches Track & Field at State High. In his spare time, he enjoys anything outdoors, making in his shop, flying drones, and exploring new places with his family and their Chocolate Lab.

Fun Fact: Mr. Avvampato was an extra in the movie "Foxcatcher", with Channing Tatum, Steve Carell, and Mark Ruffalo!

Kaylen Sitzabee

Marketing Chair
Kaylen is a junior at State High. She is an intern at Penn State's Department of Communications and an avid fish lover. She is an active member in the Aquaponics Club at State High and is involved in the oceanography and biology programs. In her free time, Kaylen enjoys reading, writing, and caring for her animals.

Fun Fact: She own's 5 fish tanks, two cats, and three frogs!

Jane Bolton

Course Instructor

Jane has been an Intern at Discovery Space for 9th, 10th, & 11th Grade where she has developed and led Day Camps, Evening Programs, & Drop-In Events. Jane has also taken AP Computer Science Principles at State High. Jane has written for the Lion’s Digest at State High.

Fun Fact: Jane is fluent in English & French!

Tanner Deyo

Course Instructor

Tanner has been a musician for 7 years. He primarily plays trumpet but also plays all of the other brass instruments as well as a few woodwind instruments. Tanner enjoys composing and arranging music in his free time. In the future he hopes to go into music performance and/or music education.

Fun Fact: Tanner did gymnastics for 10 years!

Emiyare Ikwut-Ukwa

Course Instructor

Emiyare plays jazz and classical bass and enjoys all genres of music. He is vice president of the National Society of Black Engineers Jr. State High chapter. He also has an interest in linguistics and programming.

Fun Fact: Emiyare is a god at the Chrome dino minigame!

Luly Kaye

Course Instructor

Luly Kaye is a junior at State High who loves environmental science, especially forest ecology and hydrology. Although science is their favorite subject, they also enjoy history and linguistics. Outside of school their favorite thing to do is ride bikes! Skiing, rock climbing, and backpacking are some of their other favorite sports.

Fun Fact: Luly can ride a unicycle!

Josh Lee

Course Instructor

Josh Lee is junior at State High who enjoys playing the piano. He also enjoys exercising and reading in his free time.

Fun Fact: Josh once had a pet fish who ruptured :')

MaryLiz Leskowicz

Course Instructor

MaryLiz is an 11th grader at State College Area High School. She is an All National French Horn player and loves music. She has a bubbly personality and enjoys to make any experience she participates in fun and encourages others to be the best possible self they can be!

Fun Fact: Mary is not only a musician, but also a dancer!

Daniel Miller

Course Instructor

Daniel is a junior in high school who has a strong passion for math and science courses. He is currently taking AP Calculus BC, and AP Physics C. He is also an officer in the State High Math Club. Daniel also likes to travel to national parks and play miniature golf.

Fun Fact: Daniel has played on over 120 different miniature golf courses and collects miniature golf balls!

Caitlin Moser

Course Instructor

Caitlin runs on the track and cross country teams at State High and is also an avid hiker and backpacker. She is very interested in the biological sciences and plans to become a medical doctor. Caitlin has taken Healthcare Systems & Professions, Language of Medicine, Healthcare Evidence Research, and Clinical Observations at State High, in addition to a variety of biology courses.

Fun Fact: Caitlin has gone snorkeling!

I am incredibly grateful to have worked with such an amazing group. Especially after being on both the receiving and instructing sides of the classroom, I am excited for this year's MASTER Seminar!

Mr. Chris Avvampato

Advisor

The development of MASTER Seminar took one full school year of hard work and planning to develop. Allison and her team worked diligently to design a program that will improve STEAM literacy and to increase student engagement with learning over the Summer. I'm proud to see the team's hard work being implemented for future generations of STEAM learners!

Kaylen Sitzabee
